CCM

CCM ONLUS is a non-governmental organization for cooperation with low income countries, which was founded in Turin in 1968. Its activities have mainly been devoted to community health services.
In 1972 it was granted accreditation with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for implementing co-operation programmes in developing countries.
Its guiding principles are the values of solidarity and justice, the acceptance of different cultures, the enhancement of human resources and the promotion of self-development regardless of religious beliefs, nationality or social status.

The main purpose of CCM

The main purpose of the organization is to improve the health status of poorer populations, especially communities living in remote rural areas, by providing adequate health services both through the support of local health structures and, in rare cases, through emergency operations. Preventive and curative actions are entrusted to local personnel whose skills are taught, updated or complemented when necessary by expatriate specialists.
CCM helps supporting these low income communities by improving their health services. Special medical and surgical team services are set up and sent out to vaccinate women and children, screen pregnancies at risk, control epidemics, provide health education and supply safe drinking water.

Activities in Italy

CCM main activity is concentrated on sending out information and making the international communities aware of the most urgent needs in its target countries and supporting the training of the expatriate personnel. CCM, that belongs to the CIPSI (Coordinamento di iniziative popolari di solidarietà internazionale) network, collaborates with AVEC-PVS (Associazione Veterinaria di Cooperazione con i Paesi in via di Sviluppo) and contributes to the Solidarietà Internazionale magazine.
