YOUTHS AT THE CENTRE! In Tigray
The project YOUTHS AT THE CENTRE! promotes the implementation of an integrated approach to improve sexual health services for young people in Tigray Region. CCM is working for improving the availability and quality of sexual-and reproductive health services for youth; for supporting the youths to become key actors in peer education and community engagement, promoting an open dialogue on issues related to youth problems and sexual -reproductive health and increasing the use of facilities dedicated to them. Dedicated spaces at 20 healthcare structures have been created, supported by actions to raise awareness, and involvement in community activities.
A specific research component, which will use a multidisciplinary, anthropological and epidemiological approach, will follow the development of the project over 36 months.
In 2018, it’s estimated that around 38,000 young people have had
access to sexual and reproductive health services and have been involved in educational activities; 113 health workers have been trained.
