Elective courses (ADE) for medicine and nursing students

University courses

CCM has a long-lasting collaboration with Turin University in the organization of elective courses. Medicine students are offered the opportunity to attend the course ‘Health: from global to local’, describing the links between health issues in Low Income Countries and High Income Countries, and enhancing students’ capacities to deal with social and environmental changes affecting people and communities’ health. For Nursing students, we organize the ‘Medical Humanities’ course, focusing on the importance of establishing

fruitful caring relations and adopting a patient-centered approach even with migrant or disadvantaged patients. We also help them to identify prejudices and stereotypes in health settings and to prevent discriminatory attitudes towards migrant patients.

Whenever possible, we engage students in short internships in schools or local health centers, giving them the opportunity to make experience of health promotion or assistance to migrant and vulnerable patients.
