Fight against health inequalities

Health inequalities exist not only between high-income and low-income countries, but also within our societies. Poverty is one of the leading causes of poor health and, even in Piedmont Region, the number of people in difficult circumstances is on the rise. They are mostly homeless or unemployed people, alone elderly people, single-headed families and migrants.

To counter health inequalities, CCM is committed to facilitate the match between the request and offer for health services, via two main actions:

=

Health professionals’ capacity-building

We organize training courses for university students and health workers, to transfer key knowledge and competences to establish positive and fruitful relations with most vulnerable patients and those coming from other countries and cultural contexts. Our modules target both health professionals interested in short or long-term experiences in Africa and those dealing in Italy with migrant and disadvantaged patients.

=

Health assistance for poor and vulnerable people

CCM is not creating parallel health systems. On the contrary, we are committed to support and complement the public health system, providing counselling, primary health care and referral services for homeless people and marginalized migrants. We collaborate with some charities in Turin and we are partner with “Salute Art. 32” CBO in Ivrea.

Our projects:

Global Health Course

Scientific conferences
